DISCUSSION:
A loan exhibition drawn exclusively from the collections of members of the English Ceramic Circle, on the occasion of the 21st Anniversary of the group. A range of wares was exhibited, "not intended to cover impartially every type", but rather to illustrate "the enthusiasms and particular interests of collectors of the present day". Predictably the porcelains fare better than the potteries, although there are a nice examples of delft and slipwares, brown, lead and salt-glazed stonewares, and cream-colored earthenwares included. The bulk of the catalog is given over to a rambunctious riot of Bow, Chelsea, Derby, Longton Hall, Worcester, Lowestoft, Liverpool, Plymouth & Bristol, New Hall and Pinxton ruffians. The catalog includes a Foreword by Bernard Rackham.
